Nymphalucina occidentalis

This small clam is common in the Teepee Buttes of the Pierre Shale. The Teepee Buttes are limestone formations apparently originating from hydrothermal vents in the ocean floor. The original name was Lucina occidentalis. (Horizontal extent of clam 3.2 cm.)
