Specimen #1200
Taxon: Family Phillipsiidae, Genus Ameura?
Locality: McCoy, Eagle County, CO
Age: Pennsylvanian Period, Late Atokan Stage
Rock unit: Minturn Formation
Collector: W. Itano

This is an incomplete pygidium (tail) of a trilobite. The actual fossil is an external mold (a negative impression). I pressed some modeling clay into the impression to obtain the cast shown above. I believe the trilobite belongs to the genus Ameura. It may be Amerura sangamonensis (Meek and Worthen), which was reported from this locality by Stevens (1958). The length of the ribbed portion is 1.4 cm.
