Larger image (9 kb)
Taxon: Cretolamna semiplicatus (Munster in Agassiz 1843)
Locality: Temple, Bell County, TX
Age: Cenomanian Stage, Cretaceous Period
Rock unit: Del Rio Formation
Collector: M. Itano

This tooth is also very much like Cretolamna crassidens, which occurs in younger sediments. It differs from C. crassidens mainly in having longer longitudinal ridges on the crown. In this picture, the side cusps appear to be doubled. They are not, but shadows make them appear to be. The length, fron the tip of the crown to the tip of the root, is 3.6 cm.
